PRODUCTION PROJECT TREATMENT
Example production brief:
A cross-media production for a new artist or band in a genre (or sub-genre/hybrid) of your choice.
Create an original music video and associated print or online material to promote the same artist or band.
You should create a cross-media production for an independent record label (such as 4AD) targeting a specialised audience of 16-35 year olds who have a specific interest in your chosen genre of music.
Task 1: Audio-Visual
Create an original music video to promote your new artist or band.
Length: 3 minutes - 3 minutes 30 seconds. Longer tracks may be edited or faded out to meet the required length.
You may use an existing song for your music video (this does not need to be copyright-free), but the song must not have an existing official music video.
Task 2: Print
Create a front cover and double page feature article for a new specialist culture magazine to promote your artist or band to the target audience.
Length: 3 pages.
Name and genre of music track/ film:
The chosen song is Wife me originally by the artist Raye. The genre assisted with this track is R&B/Pop. It has connotations with a true love story and positive aspects of a relationship as well as watching it blooming through the beginning to the end of the track.
Pages to be produced:
An official music video must be produced that fits with the criteria of an independent record label. There will be performance footage available in the music video as well as more than 2 filming locations.
A front cover and a double page spread must be constructed on a trendy magazine to promote the artist and the song. It will contain a celebrity to promote the music video and song such as Drake.
Target Audience:
Through my research my main target audience is 16+, mostly teenagers and young adults as they were more likely to enjoy this genre of music as well as be able to relate to this type of music. Through my research I have found out that, My target audience are attracted to this genre mostly, which is why I thought it would be suitable for young adults/teenagers who are mostly women.
Application of media language:
Through the connection of the lyrics to the movements in the music video, as well as on the magazine cover and short article it will clearly display brand identity and promote the music video through the use of soft, summer tones and neutral colour spectrum. With the use of the different angles and shots their love story will be constructed through the moving images.
Representations and how they will be constructed:
A love story will be constructed with the main image of a relationship flourishing into something else. With the use of different angles and shots their love story will be constructed through these moving images.
Industry: production, distribution and marketing:
Through my research, it is noted that I will use “Billboard Magazine” outline to promote the artists music video, as it is known that this is a popular R&B music magazine
